How is Theo Reads different from other book platforms?

Glad you asked! We actually read the stories before they go live (wild, right?). We organize everything by sexual orientation, spice level, romance sub-genre or erotic kink, and content warning so you don’t have to wade through a sea of recommendations that just aren’t your vibe. Oh, and we’re sex-positive, identity-affirming, and obsessed with great writing.

Do I need an account to read stories?

Yep! But don’t worry, signing up is fast, free, and totally worth it. Your account lets you save stories to your TBR, leave reviews, and get personalized recommendations.

How much does it cost to read stories on Theo Reads?

You’ve got options! You can buy stories individually—pay for what you read, no commitment. Or, if you’re the kind of reader who can’t stop at just one (we get it), grab a monthly or annual subscription for unlimited access. Either way, no wallet-draining surprises—just great stories, on your terms.

What formats are the stories available in?

You can read them directly on the site, beautifully formatted for both desktop and mobile. We want your reading experience to be smooth and immersive.

Finding & Reading Stories

How do I find stories that match my taste?

Easy! Browse by spice level, orientation, trope, or romance sub-genre or kink. Plus, we have clear content warnings, so you’ll always know what you're getting into. No surprises—unless you want them.

What are content warnings, and how do they work?

Stories come with clear content warnings, so you know what’s inside before you dive in. Love a specific trope? Great. Avoiding something? We’ve got you.

Payment & Refunds

Is Theo Reads free to use?

Signing up is free, browsing is free, and many stories are free. Paid stories are individually priced, and we also offer monthly and annual subscriptions for unlimited access. Because great writers deserve to be paid, and you deserve all the sweet or steamy reads your heart desires.

How does payment work?

You’ve got options! You can:

Pay per story—perfect if you like to sample and savor.
Go all in with a subscription—our monthly or annual plan gives you unlimited access to a growing library of romance and spice.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards, debit cards, and other digital payment methods. If you need something else, let us know!

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yep! If you cancel, you’ll keep access until the end of your billing cycle, but we don’t do refunds for unused time. So if you’re planning to cancel, maybe squeeze in a few extra stories first.

Can I get a refund if I don’t like a story?

Since our stories are digital and instantly accessible, all sales are final. If you’ve started reading, we can’t take it back—like that ex you keep texting.

Are there any refund exceptions?

Yes! If you haven’t accessed or read the story, you can request a refund within 24 hours of purchase in these cases:

Duplicate Charges: If you were mistakenly charged multiple times.
Technical Errors: If the story is inaccessible due to an issue on our platform that we can’t fix quickly.

To request a refund, email parneet@theoreads.com with proof of purchase and a description of the issue. Requests must be submitted within 24 hours of purchase and only for unread stories.

Do you offer refunds on subscriptions?

Nope. Subscriptions are non-refundable, but you can cancel anytime, and you won’t be charged for the next cycle.

What happens if I dispute a charge or issue a chargeback?

A chargeback happens when a reader disputes a charge with their bank or credit card company instead of requesting a refund through Theo Reads. When this happens, the payment is reversed, and our team has to respond to the dispute.

Before going the chargeback route with your bank or credit card company, reach out to us at finance@theoreads.com! If you file a chargeback, your account may be temporarily restricted while the dispute is reviewed. Fraudulent chargebacks can lead to permanent account termination (and nobody wants that). We’re happy to help and can often resolve things much faster than your bank.
