Chapter 1
Yvonne stared at her reflection in the glass doors expression perfectly summing up exactly how she felt about being back home. It wasn’t as if she never came back to Chattanooga to visit, but usually she tried to steer clear of all the places that reminded her of being an awkward teen in the shadows of not one but two more popular family members.
"You really stuck your foot in it this time," she whispered to herself gripping her purse tightly as she stared at the building in front of her. She was already regretting turning down her best friend, McKenzie’s, offer of company for the high school reunion she never wanted to attend. Yvonne had foolishly proclaimed that she would be fine now that she had a shiny new career to wave in everyone's face.
"Famous last words," she sighed as she pushed open the door. After graduating high school a decade ago, Yvonne told herself she had no desire to relive the crappiest years of her life with the classmates who had barely given her the time of day. She had happily ignored the five-year reunion invitation instead treating her girlfriends to a night out and dancing herself silly into the early hours of the morning. It had been therapeutic though slightly detrimental to her wallet.
