It's the classic transmigration setting: after reading a historical webnovel, Kevin Guan gets transmigrated into a world of magic and sorcery in ancient China as a useless side character. It's fine. The situation isn't even as dire as the stories he read. He knew the basic plot, he didn't even get a terrible death end. He can make it out alive if he can solve his one problem: he can't speak Chinese. Forget navigating the plot! How will he even navigate to the bathroom?

Chapter 1 - Actually, I Hate This Guy.

Kevin Guan stared at the boy sitting behind the teacher’s desk. Jason or… what stupid name did he want to be called here? Oh, right. Cha laoshi was surrounded by ten year olds clambering for their teacher’s attention during lunch break. This was ridiculous. They were the same age. Kevin wasn’t calling him laoshi. He barely wanted to acknolwedge Jason’s existence if he could help it.

But, fate would have it that Kevin ended up in a classroom full of ten year old or younger children trying to learn Mandarin and his teacher was his number one most hated enemy of the week, Jason Cha, from public school.

To understand how he got here, however, it would require telling a story that began two… no, a story that began at the start of the school year.

One Month Ago.

It was the start of his second year in high school.

Kevin didn’t live in the neighborhood for this school. He lived thirty minutes away by train and was originally zoned for another school. But his mother wanted him to try out for this school and secretly signed him up for the entrance exam. By some miracle, he scraped through with a just passing grade and was accepted.

Ugh, he couldn’t wait until the day he could move out.

This school was in a Chinese neighborhood so perhaps his mother thought it’d be a good chance to get him more involved...
