“Come on, Luke. We’ve been together for a couple of years now.” Her wheedling tone pierced my hangover like nails down a chalkboard. “Everyone knows we’re going to get married.” She stroked my chest, twisting my nipple the way she knew I liked.

Her logic baffled me. We’d been dating casually for six months, nowhere near a year, never mind a couple of them. And I wouldn’t marry her. Ever. She was a nutcase. Certifiable.

“Sally, I love spending time with you.” I really meant I loved sinking myself into that sweet as hell spot of hers.
